Looking for family names

On the Internet, many sites and databases contain family names that are studied by amateur genealogists. These files were built to facilitate research and for a convenient sharing of information between genealogists.

    A Rootsweb project. You have an access to the GEDCOM files that people submitted to the Worldconnect server. Send your own GEDCOM file.
  • GeneaNet Genealogical Database Network [in French]
    Same as the GENDEX site, but mainly for French family names and extended data are not always available in web pages.
  • Family History Library Church of JC of the LDS [in English]
    Some databases have an online access. You can search the I.G.I. (International Genealogical Indes) and the Ancestral File. You can also find the catalog of available microfilms and the PAF (Personal Ancestral File) software (freeware) to be downloaded.
